finally made it out of the starting gates...moving slowly but surely!
monday brought a day off of work for john and i. after dropping tony off at school (i know...we are rotten parents aren't we?? - hey, we picked him up early...) john and i headed to the gym. he had got me signed up at gold's on friday, so we went on monday while everyone was at work so he could show me around while it wasn't busy and go over the machines that will help me with what i want to achieve. it was fun. i tried them out and then we played raquetball for about 1/2 hour.
i didn't do too much as i am really nervous about doing too much before getting things checked out tomorrow at my family dr. to make sure i don't have anything creeping up like my mom's surprise cardiac catheterization last week...99.9% blockage in one artery and 10% in each of the other 2...she now has a stent in the one that was almost completely blocked and is feeling great with more energy than she's had in a while. modern medicine is truly wonderful!
yesteday brought about my first yoga class...i loved it. i felt good that i was actually more flexible and balanced than i thought i would be and it left me feeling really good about myself. it took me about 1/2 the class to get close to actually clearing my mind from the endless list of things i have running through my head, but when i did and let myself focus on the motions and that moment, i enjoyed it even more than i did before. i really need to work over the next week on trying to clear my head at times, so that when i'm there it shouldn't be so hard/take me so long...i'm a multi-tasker through and through, so this will be a yet another "challenge" for me to beat!
so that's been my week. after getting the all clear from the dr. tomorrow, i will be hitting the gym gung-ho this week...wish me luck!

how did your doc visit go?
ReplyDeleteHope all is well!
I remember the fist few yoga classes I had - - it took me until the end of the class to clear my mind. It was such a rude awakening when the instructor told us to open our eyes and go home. I've been able to relax a little earlier since then, but it's hard. I'm Type A thru and thru.
ReplyDeleteYay for progress! I'm so on the other end of the energy spectrum... all I want to do is sleep! How was the dr appt?
